CC to the CITY

CC Sabathia has been the talk around baseball as teams shop around for necessities to make their particular team better. The Yankees did just that today, as they made the big lefty a record setting deal.

Sabathia signed with the Yankees and will make $23,000,000 per year, over the next seven years. The deal is huge but bringing an ace to the Yankees is equally important. Sabathia has been a beast in both leagues the past three years and will be for more many more to come.

The Yankees are also looking at adding either Derek Lowe, A.J. Burnett, or Ben Sheets as well. If they can land one of these three to add with Wang, Pettitte, and Phil Hughes, they will be able to put Joba Chamberlain back into his setup role for Mariano Rivera.

The Yankees have already added Nick Swisher and could possible add Bill Hall before it is all said and done. Not making the playoffs doesn't set well with Yankee nation and the Steinbrenner boys are doing all they can to make sure that doesn't happen two years in row.

The STREAK Ends

High school football fans across the country were stunned last night, as South Panola lost to Meridian 26-20 in Overtime. Tyler Russel led the Wildcats down the field all night. The Wildcat offense was very efficient and their defense did just enough to defeat the Tigers from their 6th consecutive State Championship. Nick Parker, junior running back, played his heart out from the Tigers, as he was in tremendous pain throughout the game with an ankle injury. The South Panola program has put Mississippi football on the map and made the Wildcats earn every point they scored. The Tigers had opportunities but just couldn't capitalized when they needed to. The streak has come to an end but a new streak will surely start next season.

Oher, Jerry and Joseph finalists for Conerly Trophy

In my mind, Peria Jerry is hands down this years winner. Not only has he played himself in contention for the Conerly trophy, he has also played himself into the first round of the NFL Draft. Jerry has been an "animal" all year for the defensive front for the Rebels. When he came back from knee surgery, he gave that defense the spark it needed to get Ole Miss back to a bowl. These other two are very deserving players as well, but Jerry is the best player in this State. Houston Nutt has said time and time again, that it starts with Jerry. Conerly trophy = PERIA JERRY

BIG ORANGE HIRES

Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin was introduced to the SEC by a legend, no not by the AD, by Steve Spurrier. The "Old Ball Coach" called out the new, young coach Tuesday as he questioned his timing of recruiting running back Jarvis Giles. Spurrier's jab at Kiffin was a legitimate one, in that the NCAA does require you (Kiffin) to pass a test before contacting any player. This is the first of many obstacles Kiffin will find himself in, while coaching in this conference. The SEC has the best coaches, players, stadiums, and fans. Good Luck Lane!!!!!!

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney's introduction to be the next Clemson coach was not quite as dramatical or suprising. Swinney rallied the troops and proved to be the coach Clemson fans thought and hoped he'd be. The ACC is a very competitive conference and Clemson has the talent to compete every year. Good hire Clemson!!!!!!
